Ashton rounded of the their pre season preparations with a 1-1 draw away at Ribbleton Wanderers.

Ashton started incredibly sloppy and were behind within 10 minutes when Ribbleton were the only players awake with the ball bouncing around the box.

In normal Ashton style it was the conceding of the goal which kick started the game and the reds began to press the oppositions goal and created a number of clear cut opportunities to equalise.
Chris King was unable to find the target from close range after good work down the left hand side and the two Tom's both had good efforts cleared off the line.

It wasn't until mid way through the second half when Ashton did find the back of the net. Some nice interchange of passing between Matt Wiggins and Ben Grimshaw allowed the later to slot home his 3rd goal in 3 games.

Had the team been able to retain possession better in midfield Ashton could have gone on to win the game comfortably as Ribbleton rarely threatened Scott Dixon's goal. The game petered out and the final whistle blew with the teams level.

One real positive to take out of the game was the Man of the Match performance from débutante Graham Harrison who looked solid in defence winning everything that came his way.

The competitive season kicks off this Sunday with a Cup game away at Warton Typhoons.
