ST THERESAS 2 vs 1 AORFC

Posted by Stuart on Monday, January 14, 2013
Ashton yet again narrowly missed out on claiming well deserved points losing by the single goal away at St. Theresas.

Ashton fell behind early on when a long throw was flicked on to the far post and bundled in to give the home team the advantage.
A few minutes later Ashton had settled and had acclimatised to the poor state of the pitch. The team began to play some good football and creating a number of chances but were unable to capitalise. The main threat was down the right hand side with Tom ...

WARTON TYPHOONS 3 vs 2 AORFC

Posted by Stuart on Monday, January 7, 2013
Ashton were defeated 3 goals to 2 following a deflected free kick winner in what proved to be the very last moments of the match.

After creating the majority of the goal scoring opportunities throughout the game Ashton came away from the first game of 2013 with nothing, when even a point would have been a little harsh on the reds.

Warton have their goal keeper to thank for keeping them in it early on, with two great saves from Tom Bonnick and Ben Grimshaw efforts.
However a delightful pass from ...

Frenchwood 2 vs 4 AORFC

Posted by Stuart on Monday, December 10, 2012
Ashton extended their unbeaten league run to 5 game with a 4 vs 2 victory away at Frenchwood.

Despite falling behind to an early goal, Ashton looked the better team, applying plenty pressure and creating numerous chances on a incredibly boggy winter pitch.
Ashton were soon back in the game when Tom Darkins was brought down by the keeper. Tom picked himself up and convert the spot kick to bring the teams level.
The other Tom then battled well down the left to win back the ball, cut inside and lef...

BAE WARTON 2 vs 2 AORFC

Posted by Stuart on Tuesday, November 20, 2012
Ashton dropped 2 points and lost a little ground on the teams above them as they let a two goal lead slip away at BAE Warton.

The lads started brightly following a good team warm up. After weathering a few early attacking threats from BAE, Ashton took control of the game.
Graham Harrison opened the scoring for the reds, his first for the club after a nice through ball from Tom Darkins put him through 1 on 1 with the keeper.

Ashton failed to make their dominance count and they came in at half tim...

AORFC 3 vs 1 DEEPDALE DYNAMOS

Posted by Stuart on Monday, October 22, 2012
Ashton cruised to a 3 vs 1 victory at home to Deepdale Dynamos in a game which the Ribblers dominated for large periods.

Ben Grimshaw was on hand to provide all 3 goals and had he not been so hungover could probably have had another 3.
Ashton calved out numerous chances in the first half most notably from Tom Bonnick who some how saw his header from a superbly worked move down the right saved by the keeper. Matt Wiggins and Michael Robinson both saw good opportunities narrowly missed.

Ben did br...

As the fixtures have experienced some disruption due to the weather the injuries in the team have remained.
Here is an update from the Ashton Treatment Room.

Carlos suffered ligament damage to his knee at the end of last season. He made a premature return to action in the first pre season game aggravating the injury and subsequently has missed the start of the 2012/13 campaign. Carlos had hoped to return to training in the coming weeks but sustained a set back whilst on holiday with...

AORFC 2 vs 5 Ashton Villa

Posted by Stuart on Monday, October 1, 2012
AORFC competed and lost thier first ever Ashton derby and were subsequently knocked out of the cup after losing out 2 vs 5.

The scoreline however reflects badly on the AORFC lads as they had far more clear cut chances in the second half but just couldn't find the clinical touch in front of goal.

The fact that the team haven't played together in nearly 4 weeks no doubt played a part in the lads starting on the back foot. A sloppy start was dually punished with AORFC falling behind to two goals w...
