Ashton extended their unbeaten league run to 5 game with a 4 vs 2 victory away at Frenchwood.

Despite falling behind to an early goal, Ashton looked the better team, applying plenty pressure and creating numerous chances on a incredibly boggy winter pitch.
Ashton were soon back in the game when Tom Darkins was brought down by the keeper. Tom picked himself up and convert the spot kick to bring the teams level.
The other Tom then battled well down the left to win back the ball, cut inside and left fire a fine finish into the top right corner to net his first for the club.
The half was finished off with a classic route one Sunday league goal. A goal kick was flicked on by Tom Darkins for Matt Wiggins who had continued his run to tap in past the on rushing keeper.

Ashton controlled most of the second half but failed to put away a number of clear cut opportunities to kill the game off. Ashton took their foot off the gas and allowed the pressure to increase which gifted Frenchwood the opportunity to pull a goal back.
A nervy final 5 minutes ensued and it was only with the last kick of the game did Ben Grimshaw bag his 6th of the season after some good skill in the box which involved a cheeky nutmeg of the defender.

Another 3 points to ensure Ashton keep the top teams well within their sights.

Man of the Match goes to Tom Bonnick for another good display down the left. His trickery and unpredictability on the ball gives defenders a torrid time and gives Ashton a great attacking threat that perhaps has been missed in seasons past.

Weather permitting, a tough game away at Warton Typhoons awaits next Sunday. The lads will have to be at their best to make sure they have a chance of coming away with anything from this game.
