Ashton dropped 2 points and lost a little ground on the teams above them as they let a two goal lead slip away at BAE Warton.

The lads started brightly following a good team warm up. After weathering a few early attacking threats from BAE, Ashton took control of the game.
Graham Harrison opened the scoring for the reds, his first for the club after a nice through ball from Tom Darkins put him through 1 on 1 with the keeper.

Ashton failed to make their dominance count and they came in at half time with just the one goal advantage.
Within minutes of the restart the lead was doubled. Stuart Hames back heeled a ball in to the path of Tom Bonnick who layed off for Tom Darkins to slot home.

BAE were let back in to the game when the ball was given away cheaply 20 yards out from goal and their striker hit a decent low shot past Benji in goal.

Following some injuries and a number of substitutions Ashton seemed to lose their focus and for a period of 15 minutes were under pressure from the home side. This pressure lead to the equaliser. The ball failed to be cleared and it fell to the the BAE striker who was just 5 yards out with goal gaping.

Despite a last ditch attempt to regain the lead which included a goal disallowed for offside, Ashton walked off after the final whistle with just a single point.

Man of the Match goes to captain Dan Porter for a good display at the heart of defence.

Next week Ashton face their biggest test of the season in a tough game against the league leaders Burscough.
