AORFC 4 vs 2 BAE Warton

Ashton won their first real points on Sunday with a well deserved 4 - 2 victory over BAE Warton.
Ashton took the lead early on when Michael Robinson delivered a perfect ball from the right flank for Rob Cuff to head home his first of the season. Unfortunately Rob Cuff was stretchered off later on in the half with a broken ankle.
Despite having greater possession of the football Ashton actually fell behind when BAE's only 2 shots of the half both nestled in the back of the net the first of which a super strike from 20 yards.
Ashton responded instantly calving out a number of chances, the best falling to Graham Harrison who narrowly missed after breaking through and chipping the on coming keeper.
Just before half time Ben Grimshaw bagged his first competitive goal for the club to draw the teams level. A rasping shot from a tight angle left the oppositions keeper with little chance.
The lads started the second half even better than they finished the first and dominated in all areas of the field.
Tom Darkins regained Ashton's lead as he curled in from 16 yards after seemingly taking an age to get the ball out of his feet.
Chris King added another a few minutes later, a long cross from the impressive Josh Watkinson was knocked down by Andy Yates for Kingy to kit home with the outside of his boot.
Despite picking up a number of injures Ashton cruised home to a well earned victory. A fantastic performance by the whole team but a special mention goes to the Neville brothers in defence, Graham Harrison, Michael Robinson and Man of the Match Matt Wiggins who ran tirelessly in the centre of midfield.
The performance was one to be proud of and should be carried into the next game as this will make the team very difficult to beat and should put us in a good position to have a good rest of the season!
